Technology company GPSit representative Khan Greig presented at the Manuka Orchard Open Day, sharing how technology can take the guesswork out of hive placement in orchards - and thereby boosting pollination results and improving communication between growers and beekeepers.
He demonstrated Landkind’s Dynamic Orchard Map, where growers can drop GPS pins to mark preferred hive locations, for beekeepers to then review and confirm before delivery. This shared, real-time map removes miscommunication, ensures clarity, and builds confidence for both parties.

This allows beekeepers to plan precise routes for their staff, specify the number of hives per site, mark hazards or restricted areas, and avoid no-drive zones. Staff can follow these GPS-guided routes directly in the field, making set-up safer, faster, and more consistent.

Khan said: “My role at Landkind is about more than leading a software business - it’s about giving more people, in this instance, beekeepers, access to the kind of mapping technology that was once out of reach. We’re here to make geospatial tools simple and affordable, so anyone can use data to better understand their land and make informed choices - ultimately providing better harvest results.”
Logan said: “Pollination is too important to leave to chance. Tools like the Dynamic Orchard Map give everyone a clear, shared plan, meaning hives are placed where they’ll make the biggest difference.”
Smart technology, once again, being used to help both growers and beekeepers get the most from every season.
